Hello and thank you for writing for me! I hope you enjoy the exchange. This letter contains the information from my sign-up (freeforms, requitedness tags, etc) some short ramblings on the ships involved, and a handful of prompts for each. It's intended to help you out if you need, but please don't feel bound to any of it! Mix-and-match, disregard, whatever helps. I'm sure I'll love whatever you come up with!

They Both Think It's Unrequited
Little pool noodle ship of my heart. I was watching Winter episodes and Nelson episodes out of order and noticed that they seem to have some interests in common, like the outdoors and pub quizzes, and then I thought they should kiss about it. Plenty of potential for pining too, with Nelson apparently having left Midsomer for undercover work, long distance relationships in general, and the fact that they've both canonically had issues with telling love interests their feelings. Together, they could be a yearning train wreck.
- Working together! Maybe a case brings Nelson back to Midsomer in a non-undercover capacity, and he and Winter are both working on it, trying not to exchange longing glances over whatever excitingly-created-corpse Midsomer has generated. Getting trapped in small spaces together, having to make out to pretend they're not searching for clues without a warrant, being kidnapped by murderers together or at each other, that kind of thing.
- Undercover!Nelson! Back in Midsomer and flirting with Winter to distract him from Nelson's fabricated identity and backstory, with inevitable fallout to their relationship including assumptions that none of it was real anyway. Alternatively, Winter being drafted in to one of Nelson's undercover operations, possibly as a fake romantic partner!
- With somewhat lower stakes, Winter and Nelson simply running into each other when Nelson's visiting - maybe it's their first meeting, or they could have met at the Barnabys' before or even known one another in London - and falling for one another. Possibly Nelson's back in the aftermath of a case gone bad, and needs recovery time. Maybe he's back to help Barnaby at work after a case goes bad for Winter.

It doesn't particularly matter to me whether this is platonic or romantic. I'm very attached to the concept of these three finding home in each other. Barnaby and Sarah being very well established already, but seeming to fit Winter in very easily. I love the way that Barnaby makes sure to introduce first Nelson and then Winter to Sarah early on in their working relationship, as if to get her okay once he's decided he likes them, and how Winter just seems to fit happily into their family life without question. He doesn't seem lonely with them. Romantically, Barnaby might need a bit of a push/a few glasses of wine, but Sarah could certainly manage that, and then they'd find a way.
- A case goes bad and Winter is hurt trying to protect Barnaby (or vice versa) - if Winter's hurt he ends up staying with the Barnabys while he recovers, and if Barnaby is he's around to help out enough that it's just easier if he stays in.
- Sarah and Barnaby find themselves engaging in some friendly competition regarding the seduction of Winter, each trying to out-do the other's romantic gestures, until such a time as Winter, largely unnoticing, is seduced, whereupon one of them will have won.
- Winter goes away temporarily, maybe for a course or to assist at another station with a Midsomer-connected crime, and Sarah and Barnaby are surprised by how much they miss him.

I just want to see these two would be absolutely awful for each other. The kind of relationship that has a blast radius. Initial spark of attraction and understanding, then they bring out the worst in one another, it all goes belly up, their friends start fleeing the country to avoid the fallout etc. Scott seems to have a talent for self-sabotage and a tendency to move on quickly - I'm interested to see him do the former and then discover that the latter is not coming so easily as it usually does.
- After a case goes wrong, Scott turns up on his ex's doorstep, because he knows that Nelson will let him in despite everything.
- Scott decides to end his relationship with Nelson before anyone else can, and finds himself with regrets.
- A few years after they'd been together, Scott ends up working with Nelson on a case and realises he'd never really got over him.

Left Dead Reckoning Part 1 with a lot of thoughts about these two, and especially the position that we left them in. They've both been through so much and have a lot of potential. Betrayal clearly comes easily to Grace, has to as a matter of her survival, and she's very good at it and getting away unscathed, whereas even just a prediction of Paris betraying someone left her stabbed and captured by the enemy. Both of them finding themselves more or less on the same side - for now - having been thoroughly fucked over by the people who hired them. And I wonder what they see in each other, Grace who goes around people and Paris who goes through them, and what use they might have for each other's skills and how they could very quickly become each other's only known, only safe quantity in the midst of the IMF system.
- When Kittridge and the IMF turn out to be unworthy of trust, Grace finds herself drawn to Paris, a prisoner recovering from her injuries.
- Grace and Paris both choose to join the IMF together, and train together.
- Fleeing the IMF, Grace and Paris try to survive when all they have in the world is each other.

I didn't have a romantic ship for this show for years and then they had Sebastian complain at length to Loretta about Carter and his fancy suits that fit him perfectly. It reminded me of that tumblr post about not knowing how to deal with a crush ("so I wrote them a note that said "get out of my school"). And then Carter called him "kitten" one time for no apparent reason. And at one point I'm pretty sure they fed each other dubious takeout. They should kiss about it and have sex they both say is a bad idea and yet seems to happen anyway.
- Undercover! as! a! couple! and realising that they fit into that relationship a little too well.
- Sebastian's crush is extremely obvious to everyone but him, and especially to Loretta and Gregorio, who he complains to a lot about Carter and how handsome and charming he is and how dare he. They decide some matchmaking is in order.

Bird is just so mean about Owen in these tiny petty ways, and yet seems kind of fond of him in his own weird petty hateful rich person way. They had that whole makeover Bird-dresses-Owen-up thing that I lament being offscreen. I would like that onscreen please. Bird would be so disgusted and annoyed with himself for developing a crush on Owen of all people, Owen would not be down without undergoing a lot of trauma but he canonically does that anyway, and especially when he and Judith aren't associating I can see him just not being up to resisting anymore, and maybe even beginning to appreciate all the fancy stuff that Bird surrounds himself with.
- Bird takes advantage of Owen staying over when he has nowhere else to go.
- Bird unsuccessfully tries to get over his feelings for Owen, including adopting pets and attempting to start relationships with other Owen-like people who simply don't cut it.

I've been pretty far gone on these two since the finale of S2 aired. Tim willing to walk into the tunnels so Martin wouldn't be there alone, Martin breaking and opening up to Tim. Then being stuck together in the corridors for broken amounts of time, I reckon holding hands, the sheer potential for trauma bonding. I love them a lot. Happy with pre-S3-finale stuff, AU stuff, post-S3 finale stuff with monster!Tim or came-back-wrong!Tim or came-back-right-but-it-can't-fix-anything!Tim, Tim turning up in the apocalypse world of S5.
- Post-corridors, Martin and Tim find it extremely difficult to be separated.

Elliot and Ryan! I've been shipping these two since before they met in canon due to an apparent shared tendency to wander into dangerous situations for Knowledge(TM), and them meeting has not changed my mind. I feel like Ryan to some extent imprinted on the brothers and their story as a way to cope with not just the changed world but the loss of his family, and if he hadn't fallen for Elliot already, Elliot saving his life cemented it. On Elliot's side of things, he'd heard the broadcast - Ryan representing hope and safety and a stable point in a world that had fallen down around him. Then, when they meet, Ryan is the one friendly face in the world, probably the first person who's not actively been a danger to Elliot, let alone kind to him, since he lost Roman. Ryan thinks the best of him when he's decided he's a monster. Nothing will convince me they weren't holding hands all through the sequence trapped in the dark room. Naturally, I think they should have angst, pining, and ill-advised wilderness sex.
- Just a night on their way to Niyah and the bunker when the sky is particularly beautiful and it becomes particularly difficult for them to swallow their feelings for their travelling companion.
- The new world is full of strange and terrible things, and they encounter something which causes their feelings to bubble over into actions.
- They're captured by other survivors, and are surprised by their protective instincts towards one another.

Maybe some peril would help.
- Mansell tries to fill the void his broken friendship with Kent has left in his life, only for Erica to invite her brother around to meet their new pet, and he watches as Kent gets on better with the animal than he does him.
- A case goes wrong around them and Mansell and Kent must rely on each other to survive.
- Mansell attempts to organise a series of off-duty team events to allow him to bond again with Kent in non-professional settings.

Ohhh the pining on these two. Kent falling head over heels for Chandler fairly prompty while Chandler for his part is attached to and makes time for Kent in his own way, from "Out of everyone, I really wish it hadn't been you" to the crossroads date to that date that I expect they never actually went on at the end of S4. I love all that soft and delicate yearning like that scene lighting in the last episode when Kent tells Chandler not to give up hope, and how fragile it all is.
- Chandler realises he returns Kent's feelings just as Kent seems to have given up and moved on (maybe with someone who Isn't Great, maybe with someone who Chandler can't seem to find fault with no matter how hard he tries).
- On their way somewhere outside London for a case, the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere.
- Chandler's team has made a lot of enemies, and when they come to call, Kent's pining is only too obvious and must surely be reciprocated. And even if it isn't, it'll do.

It doesn't particularly matter to me whether this is platonic or romantic. I'm very attached to the concept of these three finding home in each other. Barnaby and Sarah being very well established already, but seeming to fit Winter in very easily. I love the way that Barnaby makes sure to introduce first Nelson and then Winter to Sarah early on in their working relationship, as if to get her okay once he's decided he likes them, and how Winter just seems to fit happily into their family life without question. He doesn't seem lonely with them. Romantically, Barnaby might need a bit of a push/a few glasses of wine, but Sarah could certainly manage that, and then they'd find a way.
- A case goes bad and Winter is hurt trying to protect Barnaby (or vice versa) - if Winter's hurt he ends up staying with the Barnabys while he recovers, and if Barnaby is he's around to help out enough that it's just easier if he stays in.
- Sarah and Barnaby find themselves engaging in some friendly competition regarding the seduction of Winter, each trying to out-do the other's romantic gestures, until such a time as Winter, largely unnoticing, is seduced, whereupon one of them will have won.
- Winter goes away temporarily, maybe for a course or to assist at another station with a Midsomer-connected crime, and Sarah and Barnaby are surprised by how much they miss him.

I just want to see these two would be absolutely awful for each other. The kind of relationship that has a blast radius. Initial spark of attraction and understanding, then they bring out the worst in one another, it all goes belly up, their friends start fleeing the country to avoid the fallout etc. Scott seems to have a talent for self-sabotage and a tendency to move on quickly - I'm interested to see him do the former and then discover that the latter is not coming so easily as it usually does.

Left Dead Reckoning Part 1 with a lot of thoughts about these two, and especially the position that we left them in. They've both been through so much and have a lot of potential. Betrayal clearly comes easily to Grace, has to as a matter of her survival, and she's very good at it and getting away unscathed, whereas even just a prediction of Paris betraying someone left her stabbed and captured by the enemy. Both of them finding themselves more or less on the same side - for now - having been thoroughly fucked over by the people who hired them. And I wonder what they see in each other, Grace who goes around people and Paris who goes through them, and what use they might have for each other's skills and how they could very quickly become each other's only known, only safe quantity in the midst of the IMF system.
- When Kittridge and the IMF turn out to be unworthy of trust, Grace finds herself drawn to Paris, a prisoner recovering from her injuries.

Bird is just so mean about Owen in these tiny petty ways, and yet seems kind of fond of him in his own weird petty hateful rich person way. They had that whole makeover Bird-dresses-Owen-up thing that I lament being offscreen. I would like that onscreen please. Bird would be so disgusted and annoyed with himself for developing a crush on Owen of all people, Owen would not be down without undergoing a lot of trauma but he canonically does that anyway, and especially when he and Judith aren't associating I can see him just not being up to resisting anymore, and maybe even beginning to appreciate all the fancy stuff that Bird surrounds himself with.

I've been shipping these two since before they met in canon due to an apparent shared tendency to wander into dangerous situations for Knowledge(TM), and them meeting has not changed my mind. I feel like Ryan to some extent imprinted on the brothers and their story as a way to cope with not just the changed world but the loss of his family, and if he hadn't fallen for Elliot already, Elliot saving his life cemented it. On Elliot's side of things, he'd heard the broadcast - Ryan representing hope and safety and a stable point in a world that had fallen down around him. Then, when they meet, Ryan is the one friendly face in the world, probably the first person who's not actively been a danger to Elliot, let alone kind to him, since he lost Roman. Ryan thinks the best of him when he's decided he's a monster. Nothing will convince me they weren't holding hands all through the sequence trapped in the dark room. Naturally, I think they should have angst, pining, and ill-advised wilderness sex.

Ohhh the pining on these two. Kent falling head over heels for Chandler fairly prompty while Chandler for his part is attached to and makes time for Kent in his own way, from "Out of everyone, I really wish it hadn't been you" to the crossroads date to that date that I expect they never actually went on at the end of S4. I love all that soft and delicate yearning like that scene lighting in the last episode when Kent tells Chandler not to give up hope, and how fragile it all is.
- Chandler realises he returns Kent's feelings just as Kent seems to have given up and moved on (maybe with someone who Isn't Great, maybe with someone who Chandler can't seem to find fault with no matter how hard he tries).
- On their way somewhere outside London for a case, the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere.
- Chandler's team has made a lot of enemies, and when they come to call, Kent's pining is only too obvious and must surely be reciprocated. And even if it isn't, it'll do.
